Information Northern Coalfields Limited [NCL] has come up with Nigahi Expansion [15 to 25 MTPA] Opencast Mining Project with a ticket size of 1729.68 INR Crores. This project in Coal sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project CIL Board in its 414th meeting held on 11.11.2020 approved EPR of brown field Nigahi Expansion OCP [from 15 Mtpa to 25 Mtpa] with sanctioned additional capital of Rs 1729.68 Crs with Option-II i.e. coal departmental & partial OB Outsourcing. It has a minable reserve of 473.24 MT of coal having life period of 21 years. Coal Production in FY21, FY22 & FY23 are 20.66 MT, 21.00 MT & 22.50 MT respectively. Coal production target in FY24 is 22.50 MT. Nigahi Expansion [15 to 25 Mtpa] OCP lies between Jayant Project on the east and Amlohri Project on the west. The proposed EPR for Nigahi OCP [25 Mtpa] has been envisaged with inclusion of remaining small part of Nigahi Block and major part of Nigahi North extension Block and dip side blocks of Nigahi extension dip Block, and very small part of Block-B Extension Block and Bijul Block of Moher Sub-basin of Singrauli coalfield. The expansion proposal is totally in the Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh. The project was approved on 11.11.2020. The project is scheduled for commissioning in March 2025.The initial capital investment for expansion project for 10.00 Mtpa incremental capacity [15 to 25 Mtpa] has been estimated as Rs 1729.68 Crs with partial OB Outsourcing option. The proposed Nigahi Expansion OCP [25 Mtpa] will continue to have linkage with Vindhyachal STPS and it will also serve as Basket Linkage mine to meet the overall demand of coal on NCL. 10.00 Mtpa Incremental CHP with Rapid Loading System from SILO has been envisaged in EPR. The original project which was reviewed in PRAGATI was commissioned on 31-03-2018.
