Nigeria - First Multi State Water Supply Project

The First Multi State Water Supply Project will provide a 262,000 m3/d and 126,000 m3/d of potable water supply to the inhabitants of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States respectively up to the year 2005. The project will also provide equipment for National Reference Laboratories to monitor water quality of the country’s water bodies and help maintain international standards of the treated water. The project aims to contribute towards the overall social and economic well being of the Nigerian people, especially the population in the urban centres and small towns in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states by a significant contribution in improving heath, productivity, and support in poverty eradication through the sustainable development and reliable use of WSS facilities. It consists of three sub-components components namely (i) Cross River State Water Supply Sub-Project (CRSWSP) (ii) Akwa Ibom Water Supply Sub Project (AIWSP) and the (iii) Reference and Regional Water Quality Laboratories Sub-Project (Laboratories Project).
