Nigeria National Fibre Optic Network Expansion

planned

The Nigerian government plans to deploy an additional 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic cable across the country to expand backbone infrastructure for the digital economy, aiming to cover every corner of the nation with fibre optic cables. The World Bank has approved $500 million for this broadband project, the largest in its portfolio. The project also includes training 5,000 young Nigerians on fibre technology, splicing, and deployment in partnership with operators such as Coleman, which launched the largest fibre optic cable manufacturing facility in West Africa.
