Nigeria Polio Eradication Support Project

The development objective of the Polio Eradication Support Project is to assist the Government of Nigeria, as part of a global polio eradication effort, to achieve and sustain at least 80 percent coverage with oral polio vaccine immunization in every state in the country. The project has only one component i.e. the supply of oral polio vaccine to national strategic cold stores in Abuja. The credit will purchase approximately 655 million doses of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) which, over a two year period will be used to immunize children under the age of five all over Nigeria. Since more immunization rounds will be conducted in the Northern states, the project will primarily benefit the children residing in these states.
