Description
Description | The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for funding. OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of research and program evaluation projects specific to the intervention and prevention of intentional, interpersonal firearm violence and mass shootings in the United States. This solicitation has two categories: 1) research on mass shootings, including insider threat and leakage and the role of the news media and social media platforms; and 2) research on the effectiveness of campaigns implemented in school systems and/or through school personnel to encourage the parents, guardians, and relatives of school-aged children to store firearms safely and securely. This program furthers DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights. |
