Description | The project entails the construction of the Ningxia-Hunan ± 800 kV UHV DC project in China, connecting northwest Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region with Hunan Province. The ultra-high voltage direct current transmission line stretches 1634 km through Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing and Hubei, with over 50 percent of the power generated as new energy. The project has a rated voltage of ±800 kV and a rated transmission capacity of 8 million kilowatts and is estimated to supply electricity of over 36 billion kWh per year. Sponsor is the State Grid Corporation of China and the total value of the project is $3924.69 million (CNY28.1 billion). Construction started on 11 June, 2023 and operation is scheduled in 2025.
