Description

Description

The objectives of the Ninth Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC) Program for Mozambique are to assist the Government to: 1) to improve the business climate and to increase transparency in extractive industries; 2) strengthen social protection; and 3) strengthen public financial management by enhancing effectiveness of internal audit, developing a public investment management process, and improving public debt management. This three-year PRSC series is part of an integrative approach by the World Bank to support the Government of Mozambique in strengthening the transition of the country towards a resource-rich economy. Mozambique's economic performance over the past two decades has been strong; the government has pursued a structural reform program focused on facilitating private sector-led growth in a context of macroeconomic stability and more efficient fiscal policy. The government has had an uneven performance in implementing reforms designed to expand diversification and promote more inclusive growth through broad improvements in the business environment.
