Description | Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) is planning to construct a natural gas-fired peaking unit at its R.M. Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield. Project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel and storage tanks; and purchase and installation of simple-cycle combustion turbines or reciprocating internal-combustion engines, a cooling tower, a compressed air system, an emergency generator, transformers, switchgear, and selective catalytic reduction and oxidation catalyst equipment. The unit will have the capacity to generate 370 MW to 450 MW of electric power. |
