Description

Description

The Nisutlin Bay Bridge replacement project involves replacing the existing bridge on the Alaska Highway near Teslin, Yukon. The project aims to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians, accommodate increased traffic volumes, and support heavier commercial and strategic loads between Yukon and Alaska. The current bridge, designed in 1953, is nearing the end of its service life. Construction began in 2022 beside the existing bridge. The project was initially awarded to Graham Infrastructure LP for $160 million, but costs have increased to approximately $194 million due to changes in Fisheries Act authorization requirements and other change orders. The Yukon government has terminated the engineering contract with WSP and mutually ended the construction contract with Graham Infrastructure LP. Remediation design work is expected to be completed in the coming months, after which the remaining construction work will be tendered again.
