Nith River Wastewater Siphon Twinning

Install a second 200mm diameter wastewater siphon to provide redundancy/security for the siphon crossing. The existing 200mm siphon was installed in 1972 and is made of ductile iron. The existing siphon is operating at approximately 20% of its capacity. The siphon is planned to service the Ninth Peninsula Growth Area which will result in the use of approximately 85% of the single siphon capacity. The project has already been designed, approvals (e.g. Environmental Compliance Approval) and permits (Grand River Conservation Authority) have been obtained. Project was tendered in 2015 but due to insufficient funds the project was not awarded for construction and was cancelled. The availability of funding will permit the project to begin immediately in 2017.
