NJDEP Shell Recycling Program Expansion

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has partnered with Sysco Corp. to expand the state's Shell Recycling Program. This program collects discarded oyster and clam shells from restaurants to create oyster reefs, which improve coastal water health, reduce landfill waste, enhance climate resilience, and benefit local restaurants. The partnership will enable collection from a broader range of restaurants across the state, allowing expansion of oyster reef enhancement projects to multiple sites along New Jersey's coastline.
