NKT Road & Toll Private Limited was created to improve and operate the section of Ahmednagar - karmala - Tembhurni of State Highwat 141 from Km 80/600 To 140/080 under BOT basis. The total length was 60 km. The project was awarded by Public Works Department on behalf of Government of Maharashtra to IRB Infrastructure under a 15 year concession contract including 30 months of construction period. The concession contract was signed in November 2001 and the starting period (construction) was December 2001. The construction phase was completed in August 2003. The concession period was to end in December 2016. The public works included: a) Widening of existing formation of carriagway from 7 mtr to 12 mtr = 56.330 kms b) Widening / Reconstruction of Minor Bridges = 12 Nos. c) Widening / Reconstruction of CD Works / Slab Drains = 71 Nos. d) Junction Improvements = 18 Nos. e) Construction of Bus-bays = 14 Nos. f) Adequate Road Furniture g) Toll Plaza Complex = 1 No. h) Operation and Maintenance till end of concession Period The project cost was estimated to be INR 368 Millions (US$7.8 million). The project reached financial closure in December 2001 with a loan from State Bank of India.
