Description
Description | The proposed project is an up to US$100 million equivalent senior Tanzanian Shillings (“TZS”)-linked loan denominated in TZS to NMB Bank Plc (“NMB” or the “Bank”), the second largest bank in Tanzania with a 23% market share, with a maturity of up to five years, including a two-year grace period. The project will be included in the micro, small and medium enterprises (“MSME”) Finance Platform which is supported by a pooled first loss guarantee (“PFLG”) of up to US$40 million provided by International Development Association (“IDA”) 20 Private Sector Window Blended Finance Facility (“IDA20-PSW-BFF”) allocated to the small and medium enterprises (“SME”) Envelope under the MSME Finance Platform. Of the total project size, up to US$40 million will benefit from first-loss credit enhancement under the SME Envelope, while the remaining portion of US$60 million will be processed on a standalone basis. The proceeds will support NMB's lending strategy to expand access to finance for MSMEs, including a 20 percent target for women-owned MSMEs (“WMSMEs”) (the “Project”). |
