Description | NO MEANS NO aims to train prevention workers to empower women with disabilities (WWD) to live a life without violence by giving WWD an active role in combatting gender-based and disability-based violence. To this end, the project strengthens WWD's potential to prevent, and protect themselves against, different types of violence through empowerment self-defence training. It also develops accessible information and prevention tools for WWD and raises awareness of violence against WWD within the disability sector. Activities: - training of trainers in empowerment self-defence for WWD - organisation of awareness-raising events on the European and national levels on the primary prevention of violence against WWD and WWD's active role, targeting caregivers, anti-violence professionals, policy makers and the community - organisation of empowerment self-defence workshops for WWD - dissemination of safety guides in four languages and accessible to WWD - exchange of experiences and good practices between project participants 800 women with different types of disabilities will be able to participate in empowerment self-defence training and 13 000 WWD will access a safety guide tailored to their needs: - Safety guide for women with physical impairments and chronic diseases, hearing and visual impairments and learning disabilities: an illustrated A5 brochure in easy read format, with braille titles and links to online version accessible to screenreaders and online audio-description (EN, DE, PL, FR; 8000 print copies and online pdf) - Safety guide for women with hearing disabilities: online video with subtitles and incremented sign language interpretation (EN, DE, PL, FR subtitles ; sign language interpretation in the German, Polish, French, Belgian-French and International sign languages) - Safety guide for women with visual disabilities: online version of printed safety guide accessible to screenreading devices, and online audio-description (both in EN, FR, DE, PL). |
