The FC measure aims to support the implementation of the Moroccan solar plan. The subject of the financing is the installation of two solar power plants (Noor Midelt I and II) - a combination of photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal energy (concentrated solar power, CSP) with storage and battery storage systems, as well as decentralized PV systems in the Atlas region. In total, the additional installed renewable capacity is 1280 MW. The FC module goal is the cost-efficient and ecologically compatible production of electrical energy. This will support Morocco in introducing a development model that minimizes the negative impacts on the environment and climate and takes precautions for climate change (DC goal). The project sponsor is the public agency for renewable energies, Masen (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy). The measure is expected to be financed in cooperation with the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Agence Française de Développement (AFD). KfW is taking the lead among the European donors. The financing also includes loans from the World Bank (WB), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF). The FC contribution consists of two low-interest loans with DKTI funds totaling up to EUR 700 million.
