Description | The Ecuadorian firm Hidrowarm S.A. announced the development of the Normandia hydropower plant project, located at Upano River, province of Morona Santiago (48.51 MW in capacity) and a transmission line from Parroquia 9 de Octubre and the Abanico substation. In 2013, the sponsor signed with CONELEC (Consejo Nacional de Electricidad) the contract to construct and operate the power plant. The investment was estimated at US$ 111.4 million. Financial closure was achieved in July 2016, when the sponsor was granted US$ 75 million in loan from the Inter-American Investment Corporation – IIC (US$10 million A-loan and US$65 million B-loan). The remaining capital expenditures were set to be financed with equity. Commercial operations were scheduled to begin in the end of 2018. |
