The project has faced delays of over four decades, with land acquisition and relocation of electric poles and transformers still pending. Originally estimated to cost Rs 30 crore, the cost has escalated to Rs 2,430 crore. The project was halted in 1993 due to environmental concerns but revived in 2017 after reducing the dam height. The main water source is in Jharkhand, and the project is closely monitored by the Prime Minister's Office. |
