Description

Description

The proposed project will bring sewer service to the Swan Lake area to serve existing and future residents and industry in Township of Spallumcheen, the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB), and the Regional District of North Okanagan. Sewage collection and treatment will protect the water quality and habitat of Swan Lake, reduce demands on and contamination of the Hullcar aquifer, and support agriculture by supplying reclaimed water for irrigation and by accepting animal waste for treatment. The project will eliminate the use of failing septic fields and support future development. The project works will include: - Construction of wastewater treatment facility to meet provincial and federal regulatory requirements; - Construction of sludge treatment system capable of receiving animal waste from the Hullcar area with production of Class A biosolids; - Installation of approximately 12 km of gravity and forcemain and pump stations; - Installation of reclaimed-effluent and non-potable water storage and distribution network for irrigation, industrial water use, and firefighting; - Related civil, mechanical and electrical works, and road rehabilitation.
