Description
Description | In January 2010, Cambodian Transmission Limited signed the BOT contract with state-owned power company Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) to build and operate a 100km, 230-kv power transmission system from North Phnom Penh to Kampong Cham. Under this BOT, the project company agreed to build, manage and maintain the transmission line for 25 years before returning it to the government. Cambodian Transmission Limited was a subsidiary of Malaysian Leader Universal Holding. The project was to be implemented in three phases: The first phase involved the construction of a substation in Kampong Cham with an estimated completion scheduled in July 2011, while the construction of the North Phnom Penh substation under the second phase was slated to be completed by March 2012. The final phase, involving commissioning of the 110-km transmission line from the North Phnom Penh substation to the Kampong Cham substation, would be completed in December 2013. The total project cost was estimated to be US$106.6 million. In February 2010, Cambodian Transmission Limited (CTL) executed a facility agreement with the ExIm Bank of Malaysia Berhad. Under the agreement Exim Bank Malaysia agreed provide the financing of US$65 million (61% of the total project cost) on a 13-year Islamic financing under its overseas project financing facility. In June 2019, MIGA issued $ 73 million guarantee to cover the investment by Mizuho Bank, Ltd and lenders into Cambodian Transmission Limited. |
