North St Boniface Water Main Upgrading

Water mains upsizing to provide adequate fire flow to support future multi-family development. The water mains proposed to be renewed in the North St Boniface area were installed in 1958 and are nearing the end of their service lives. The water mains to be renewed need to be upsized to provide the required level of service to accommodate the proposed growth, re-development and densification planned in the area. The primary goal of the project is to improve the available fire protection in the North St Boniface area in order to facilitate higher density redevelopment plans. There has been significant interest for multi-family development in this area but it has not been able to proceed due to available fire flows. Mains to be upsized are: Tache (La Verendrye to Messager), St. Joseph (La Verendrye to Messager), Messager (Tache to St Joseph), Hebert (Tache to St Joseph), Darveau (Tache to St Joseph), Grandin (Tache to St Joseph), Aubert (Tache to St Joseph), La Verendrye (Tache to Langevin), and Notre Dame (Tache to St Joseph). This project is being accelerated and is supporting the rehabilitation of water infrastructure as well as upgrading the existing water main system in the area to accommodate the needed level of service of near term future development in this area (which is a neighborhood renewal area).
