Description | The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District is preparing to begin work on the last of seven massive storage tunnels in a multi-billion dollar system designed to stop combined sewer overflows from dumping raw sewage into Lake Erie during heavy rainstorms. The newest tunnel will have a 20-foot diameter and run four miles, projected to reduce combined sewer overflows into the lake by approximately 550 million gallons per year. Four other tunnels are already operating as part of this $3 billion Project Clean Lake initiative. |
