Description | The Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) pipeline is an underwater gas pipeline approved by New York environmental regulators after previously being rejected three times. It is New York's first new gas pipeline in at least a decade and represents the state's largest expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure since the 2019 climate law. The project includes construction of the pipeline with environmental mitigation measures such as burying the pipeline two feet shallower to reduce dredging of toxic sediment and a $24 million payment to compensate for damages to fish and clam habitats. |
