Description

Description

EDF power solutions North America, the Red Rock Indian Band and Fort William First Nation have secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for the 200-MW Northern Breeze Energy wind project. The project was selected through the Ontario IESO’s Long-Term 2 (LT2) Energy Window 1 procurement. EDF power solutions will co-develop Northern Breeze Energy as a 50% owner, with the Indigenous partners each holding a 25% stake. The wind farm is planned on public land in Jacques Township north of Thunder Bay, expected to add up to 34 wind turbines and generate enough electricity to supply about 64,500 homes. The project represents an investment of more than CAD 700 million and is expected to create around 250 jobs during construction. The wind farm is expected to enter service in 2029, subject to engagement with stakeholders.
