Description | This project involves the construction of the Nova Olímpia biogas and electricity plant, located in Nova Olimpia locality, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. The planned generated capacity is 3.65MW (32,000 MWh) while the planned biogas production is up to 11.4 million normal cubic meters per year. The sponsor for this initiative is UISA Geo Biogás company, a joint venture between Usinas Itamarati (UISA) - Brazilian biorefinery, and Geo Biogas - Brazilian renewable energy provider. The total volume of carbon captured will be 9.1 million tons. The total project cost is $44.6m (R$243.5m), of which the National Bank for Economic and Social Development BNDES provided a loan for $14.6m (R$80m).
