Norwegian energy giant Equinor and its Australian partner Oceanex were offered a feasibility licence for the project in late February 2025. The project is part of the Australian government's net-zero strategy and aims to deliver regional jobs and lasting energy security. The government has extended the consideration period for the partners to develop commercial arrangements due to industry challenges. Equinor has not yet indicated if it will invest, but Oceanex remains committed to the project. |
