A senior secured loan on a non-recourse basis in favour of Nefer Menya for Renewable Energy owned by Infinity Power Holding (51%) and HAU Energy (49%), to finance the development, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 1 GW solar photovoltaic (“PV”) facility coupled with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (“BESS”) located in West Minya, Egypt (the “Project”). The Project will be one of the first large-scale renewable developments in Egypt to integrate a BESS component, marking a significant milestone for the sector. The Project will help address Egypt’s current energy shortfall, at a time when renewable energy has become increasingly essential not only for decarbonisation, but also to reduce costly LNG imports and alleviate pressure on FX reserves. The Project is expected to result in significant environmental benefits through the introduction of 1 GW of new solar capacity corresponding to yearly reduction of more than 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. The integrated BESS will also enhance grid stability by shifting excess solar generation and providing balancing services at times of peak demand.
