Description

The project envisages the construction of a new 125km, 500kV transmission line from the Nueva Esperanza substation in the department of Cundinamarca to the La Virginia Substation located in the department of Risaralda, as well as two 500kV transformation modules. The line will cross the departments of Risaralda, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Quindío and Valle del Cauca. The power line contract forms part of the transmission expansion plan 2013-2027. Alupar is the sponsor and its subsidiary Transmisora Colombiana de Energia (TCE) is developing the project. TCE will build and operate the asset itself. MUFG and Banco Sabadell arranged the $163.5 million 7-year financing. MUFG acted as coordinating lead arranger, hedge provider and administrative and offshore collateral agent on the deal. Financial Close was achieved in August 2020.
