Nuton Jibon Livelihood Improvement Project

The project development objective for the Nuton Jibon Livelihood Improvement Project for Bangladesh is to improve livelihoods of the poor and extreme poor in the project areas. This project is comprised of three components and their subcomponents. (1) Community institutions and livelihood development component will: (i) mobilize the poor and extreme poor in selected rural communities by building and strengthening beneficiary community institutions; (ii) provide funding for small infrastructure and livelihood support for project beneficiaries; and (iii) provide nutrition awareness and agricultural production knowledge. (2) Business development and institutional strengthening component will increase livelihood opportunities of poor and extreme poor by facilitating their organization into producer groups, cooperatives and societies and by improving their market and business orientation and forward and backward linkages in the market systems. (3) The project management, monitoring and learning component will continue supporting third party monitoring and impact evaluation activities as well as build and expand on communication and presentation aspects.
