Description

Description

This project is a follow-up phase of the grant project Nutrition-sensitive cash transfers for particularly vulnerable children in Tunisia (2022). The EUR 25 million project will be expanded by a further EUR 6 million and financed as part of the special initiative Transformation of the agricultural and food systems (formerly ONE WORLD without hunger, SEWoH). The ongoing food crisis caused by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and a tense economic situation in Tunisia justify the need to extend and expand the previous project. It thus makes a contribution to cushioning negative socio-economic effects on child development in vulnerable parts of the Tunisian population. In addition to the goal of adequate nutrition and child development, the project aims to support opportunities for long-term reforms in the Tunisian social system, which are currently hampered by political instability and refinancing difficulties of the Tunisian state, among other things. In detail, the second phase will enable an extension of the current project until 2024 and the additional reaching of 81,000 needy children (including children with disabilities and preschool children).
