Economic/Social Impact of the Project A run of the river project on river Nyamjang Chhu in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh utilizing the gross head of 1057.0 for generation of 780 MW in underground power house by six units of 180 MW each. Project update as of 01.05.2020- Government of Arunachal Pradesh [GoAP] issued the instant notice for termination on 22.03.2019 to Bhilwara Energy Limited/NJC Hydropower Limited invoking its right to takeover the project on “AS IS WHERE IS BASIS” and allotting the same to third party.BEL filed petition under section 9 of arbitration act for maintaining the status quo of the project in district court of Tawang in Itanagar. The matter was further taken to Guwahati High Court and is sub-judice in Guwahati High court. Wild life Institute of India [WII] had submitted its report on Black Neck Crane and e-flow requirement as per directions of Honourable NGT to Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change and GoAP. WII has recommended that the project is not to be constructed to protect the habitat of Black Neck crane.
