Description | The project involved repairing the failing interceptor sewer near South Street Seaport in New York City. The interceptor, a large concrete sewer box, had crumbling walls and was at risk of collapse and overflow. The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) led the project using an innovative Spiral Wound Lining method to create a PVC pipe inside the existing sewer without moving utilities or causing street closures. The project fixed about 1,050 feet of pipe, reduced flood risks, and extended the interceptor's lifespan. |
