Description
Description | Federal officials and Amtrak have selected Penn Transformation Partners, a joint venture between Halmar and Skanska, to lead the redevelopment of New York Penn Station. The project includes a new entrance on Eighth Avenue, redesigned concourses, expanded passenger circulation areas, modernized trainshed infrastructure with renovated platforms, and additional vertical circulation elements. It aims to increase capacity, improve safety, accessibility, and operational flow, and support limited through-running services across the regional rail network. Madison Square Garden will remain in place with exterior modifications incorporated into the station design. The project is structured as a public-private partnership with phased construction expected to begin before the end of 2027. |
