Description | JERA Co., Inc. has proposed to modernise Oahu's energy system by replacing ageing, inefficient oil-fired generation with a modern, high-efficiency ~500 MW hybrid combined-cycle and simple-cycle power facility supported by offshore LNG import infrastructure. The project aims to deliver affordable energy, enhance grid resilience, lower emissions, and support Hawai'i's clean energy goals. It includes LNG-related infrastructure such as an FSRU and pipelines, with a target commercial operation date in 2030. |
