Oak Cliff Dallas Apartment Building

damaged/under recovery

A residential apartment building in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas was destroyed by a natural gas explosion, resulting in a fire that killed three people, including a child, and injured several others. Recovery efforts are ongoing with crews searching through debris by hand and drone. The explosion was reportedly caused by a contractor striking a gas line during work at the building. The city had exploratory plans for possible redevelopment but no construction permits had been issued at the time of the explosion.
