Description

Description

In May 2009, the Mexican state power company CFE has awarded the contract for construction and operation of the 101.4MW Oaxaca I wind farm in the state of the same name to a consortium made up of firms Energía y Recursos Ambientales (EYRA), a subsidiary of ACS Group [Spain] and Energías Ambientales de Guadalajara. The consortium submitted the lowest bid to sell power from the plant with US$0.066/kWh. The two other final bidders were Spain's Acciona, and a consortium of Spanish firms Enerfín and Elecnor. The local firm Leasing Operations de México subitted a final offer that was thrown out due to not fulfilling the bidding requirements. The Oaxaca I project was to connect to Oaxaca State's electricity network through an 115kV transmission line, which was to be tendered as a separate project. The total project cost was US $214.7 million. On July 29, 2010 the project reached financial closure through US $65.9 million in equity and US $148.8m eight-year term loan provided by BBVA, Banco Santander and Instituto de Credito Oficial. Operations commenced in October 2012.
