Description | The Obelisk project is a 1.1 GW solar and battery energy storage system project in Nagaa Hammadi, Upper Egypt. It includes 561 MW of solar and a 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system in its first phase, commissioned in February 2026, with a second phase adding 564 MW of solar targeted for commercial operation in summer 2026. The project is backed by a 25-year, US dollar-denominated power purchase agreement with Egyptian Electricity Transmission Co. (EETC), supported by a sovereign guarantee, and financed primarily through non-recourse debt and equity from various investors. |
