Oberpfalz and Pilsen Region — Together in the middle of Europe

The main objective of the project “Oberpfalz and Pilsner Bezirk — together in the middle of Europe” is to deepen economic, demographic and local cooperation in the common, cross-border area. The project continues the long-standing cooperation of both partners, which was established in 2001. Within the framework of this 15-year cooperation, strong links have been established on both sides of the border, but must be maintained, strengthened and further developed. The aim of both partners is to continue the successful cross-border cooperation, which contributes to the further development of the common living and economic area, strengthens the competitiveness of the whole area and contributes to the preservation of the living conditions of border residents. This objective is mainly pursued through the work of the working groups and working teams through cross-border partner forums and exchange internships. A total of 7 working groups (knowledge platforms) will be formed to address the following issues: Regional development, tourism, culture and tourism; Traffic; Environmental protection; Economy; Education, education and skills; Health care and social services. Each of the working groups is composed of professionals from both sides of the border (up to 20 people). Each working group meets at least 6 times (3 times in Bavaria and 3 times in the Czech Republic). Working groups can create work teams that deal with specific issues. Each work team is formed by up to 10 people. A total of 30 meetings will take place (15 times on the Bavarian side and 15 times on the Czech side). Meetings of the working groups (knowledge platforms) will be one day (if necessary two-day). The exchange of information among the representatives of the individual working groups, working teams and other regional actors will take place on partner forums. These forums are usually held once a year, a total of four during the project duration (two times in Bavaria and twice in the Czech Republic). The partner forums will be held on two days for about 110 participants. An important project innovation is internships of the professionals of both partners. The aim is to get to know the structure of the state and the administration, as well as the legal system beyond the border. Further objectives are exchange of experience in many areas of expertise, deepening cooperation among regional actors and networking of professionals dealing with identical tasks. In total, up to 48 people (24 people per partner) will participate in these exchange internships and are designed for up to one working week.In addition, a blueprint for information is developed in the activity“Improving the information culture”, e.g. on homepages in the other language (German or Czech),the authorities are provided.
