Obituary season 2 is a 6 x hour black comedy drama series co-production between Ireland and France. Telling the story of an obituarist in a small West of Ireland town who resorts to murder when work dries up. The series has been co-developed by Magamedia (Ireland) and APC SAS (France) and will be shot entirely in the West of Ireland. This is a quirky European series with massive international potential, as evidenced by series 1 and 2 being financed by Hulu in the US. Devised as a returning series, our objective is to produce a series of such originality, verve and quality that it will run to many multiple seasons. A further objective is to establish a strong co-production culture between the two companies that will enable further original European titles to be co-produced. The series will world premiere on Ireland's public service broadcaster RTÉ, and will then be available on many international platforms such as Hulu (USA) and (AMC Spain). The activities comprise conception, project management, pre-production, production, postproduction, and distribution/marketing of the series. In addition to the 8 principal creatives (exec producers, directors, writer, DP, Designer) approx. 70 freelance employees and crew, and up to 45 cast will benefit from this project in the under-served BMW region of Ireland.
