Description

The Ocean Ave Safety & Bike Access project will implement near- and mid-term pedestrian safety, bicycle access, and other upgrades along and adjacent to the Ocean Avenue business district, which were identified in the Ocean Ave Mobility Action Plan. Recommendations of the Mobility Action Plan’s community task force include the following improvements on Ocean Avenue between Ashton Street and San Jose Avenue: Pedestrian safety improvements New and updated traffic signal heads, striping and signage Left-turn traffic-calming and arterial speed management Improved bicycle connectivity to Ocean Ave business district and citywide bikeway network These improvements will complement a protected bikeway along Frida Kahlo Way/Judson Avenue proposed by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Quick-Build Program. The final package of measures to be constructed for the Ocean Ave Safety & Bike Access project will be finalized in conjunction with the outreach and approval process for the Frida Kahlo/Judson Quick-Build, which is planned for summer or fall 2023. The Transportation Authority’s Neighborhood Program (NTIP) is intended to strengthen project pipelines and advance the delivery of community-supported neighborhood-scale projects.
