Description | The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District is developing several new water delivery systems as part of the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program. The program aims to help farmers exchange declining groundwater supplies for water from the Columbia Basin Project, protecting the Odessa aquifer while maintaining agricultural production and local water supplies. The District has entered memorandums of understanding with seven landowner groups to develop new delivery systems including Shrag, Wheeler Corridor, EL 54, EL 56.5, EL 4.8, EL 40.2, and EL 73.3 Delivery Systems. Two additional systems are under construction and expected to begin deliveries in 2027. |
