Description | In 2008, Brooklyn-Kiev Group began development of a new container terminal in the port of Odessa. In August 2008, Translink, a CMA-CGM [France] subsidiary, purchased a 50% equity stake in the project company, Odessa Terminal Holdco Limited (OTHL). The greenfield container terminal was developed on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis. The quoted capacity of the new terminal varied between 200,000 and 300,000 TEUs in public sources. The operator of the terminal was Brooklyn-Kiev Port LLC, a subsidiary of OTHL. The project reached financial closure in May 2009 when the EBRD signed a US$37 million senior loan towards the project's overall cost, which was quoted by EBRD as US$130 million. In addition, EBRD acquired an equity participation of up to 5% in OTHL. |
