Off the margin: range of women's writing

The project consists of translating, publishing, distributing, and promoting six titles that represent six different female voices of contemporary European literature written in Basque/Spanish, Norweigan, Czech, Italian, French and Portuguese and emerges from a recognition of the need to address gender disparities, linguistic diversity, and cultural inclusion in European literature. Promoting the voices of contemporary women writers from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds contributes to a more inclusive, representative, and culturally vibrant literary landscape. By targeting the fact that the problem of lesser-used languages often comes with fewer distribution channels and less echo in terms of transnational relevance and affirmation, with each book translation we want to introduce our readership to a variety of female poetics built on different literary traditions and encourage them to gain insights into diverse experiences, perspectives, and sensibilities, fostering empathy and appreciation for cultural diversity. Transnational circulation of fiction is critically needed when it comes to publishing and consuming literature. Through translation and cross-cultural promotion, the project facilitates cultural exchange and dialogue among diverse communities. It promotes mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation for cultural differences, contributing to the overarching goal of fostering a more inclusive and cohesive European society. With partners from libraries, college institutions, and bookstores, and with our three markets open for distribution (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia), as with specially organized activities such as seminars, workshops, panels, promotion of authors and translators, and different multimedia approaches that ensure awareness of environmental protection by reducing paper consumption, the project aims to support and spread European values: cooperation, openness, diversity, inclusion, gender and equality.
