The ongoing pandemic has highlighted, more than ever, that education plays a vital role in society, and the European Higher Education community has risen to the challenge of transitioning into distance education, in spite of, and above, structural and logistical obstacles. The COVID-19 crisis has uncovered and amplified pre-existing inequalities. The new priority set by our members is that the transformation of higher education must be met with secure investments into sustainable, inclusive, innovative and dynamic educational policy strategies to recover the losses of students and develop more crisis-resilient higher education institutions both over the short and long terms. In this one-year grant, ESU wants to keep its professionalism and comprehensive coverage of the policy topics, considering Higher Education in the European Higher Education Area and the European Union. As an organisation, ESU has been advocating for the rights of the European Students, connecting the National Student Organisations and reflecting on the significant developments for the past 40 years. The Operating Grant is necessary to achieve our goals and cover a growing number of topics that have arisen within the Bologna and European Education Area frameworks. At the same time, millions of students across Europe might seek advocacy and help. We are there to support them. The Operating Grant is critical to the organisation's survival because it provides the general support necessary to maintain the statutory meetings and diversity of efforts to accomplish our primary objectives as an organisation representing students in higher education throughout Europe. In addition, the operating grant allows performing many activities which are not likely to get any other surprise of financial support. The application details the various actions that will take place within the grant framework, which will support a portion of our activity.
