Description | SoftBank Group Corp is planning to build a massive AI data centre on federally owned land in Ohio, capable of drawing 10 gigawatts of power. The data centre, including chips and equipment, is expected to cost between $30 billion and $40 billion. It will be powered by approximately $33 billion worth of natural gas-fired electricity, with turbines capable of generating 9.2 gigawatts installed across the region. SB Energy is also planning an additional 800 megawatts of new capacity for the data centre. The project includes a $4.2 billion investment in upgrading and building transmission infrastructure with American Electric Power Co's local utility to support the new load. |
