Description

Description

The project will upgrade key components of Oliver & District Arena including the closed loop cooling system, rink dasher boards, washrooms, and change rooms. The upgrades will improve accessibility and energy efficiency. The arena is over 50 years old and some of the components (cooling system for ice surface and the slab floor) have reached the end of life and are in very poor condition per a 2017 engineering study. An accessibility study indicated that the facility met only 55% of building requirements and needed upgrades to make it barrier-free. The project would address these issues and create a safer and more accessible public space for recreation. The project works will include: - replacement of closed-loop cooling system and concrete slab floor; - installation of underfloor heating and insulation; - replace rink dasher board system; - install energy recovery system including a heat exchanger, new glycol floor, and a hot water heat pump; - safety code upgrades to the building; - dressing room, washroom, and kitchen upgrades; and, - related works.
