Old Church Rock Mine Uranium Cleanup

The Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency is using high-pressure slurry ablation technology to clean up the Old Church Rock Mine, an abandoned uranium mine in Church Rock, New Mexico. The project involves excavating approximately 6,000 cubic yards of uranium mine waste and permanently removing up to 1,500 cubic yards of material using this technology, which separates uranium from soil by creating a slurry with water. The project also includes a Phase 2 Verification Study to demonstrate the technology's effectiveness at a larger commercial scale.
