Description | The New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation is seeking bidders to carry out a Superfund cleanup at an old city landfill on Old Upper Mountain Road in Lockport. The landfill site was used as a city dump from about 1921 through the 1950s. The scope of the project also includes cleanup of contaminated sediment and floodplain soils found within Gulf Creek. The primary contaminants at the site are metals, which are present due to the burning of garbage and other waste, with the remnants having pushed into a nearby ravine. The cleanup project will also include the permanent relocation of the Gulf Interceptor Sewer. |
