Olde Town Arvada Transit Hub

As an engine for growth for Olde Town Arvada, the new 621-stall parking garage built into the hillside near the active railroad is a key project for this urban and historical district. This project serves as a commuter bus facility and transit parking garage to the Gold Line’s Arvada Train Station and most of the parking garage to Olde Town Arvada. Kiewit was able to ensure the area maintained business as usual and respected the integrity of nearby historical landmarks while meeting an aggressive schedule from award to completion. In order to meet the aggressive schedule, Kiewit began with an early construction package that included demolition, excavation, shoring walls, foundations, a pedestrian bridge, and some utility work, starting before the building phase. This allowed the team to begin the activities that were critical to the schedule of the project, and finish the project as planned. The project was located on a very challenging construction site, laid out on a steep slope with close proximity to two historic attractions and bordering the active Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail Line.
