Description | The Olivenhain-Hodges Emergency Storage Pump Stations is part of the San Diego County Water Authority’s Emergency Storage Project (ESP). The ESP is a system of reservoirs, interconnected pipelines and pumping stations that will make water available to the San Diego region in the event of an interruption in imported water deliveries. The pump station houses two 28,000-horsepower pump turbines and is able to deliver between 600 and 790 cubic feet per second of water between Lake Hodges and the Olivenhain Reservoir. The pump station also provides 40 megawatts of peak hydroelectric power to the region. The project increased emergency water storage by 20,000 acre-feet. |
