Description | The City of Vancouver is considering proposals to reactivate the former Olympic Line streetcar route for a new temporary demonstration passenger rail service using Very Light Rail (VLR) technology. The service would operate along the 1.8-km False Creek South railway right-of-way between Granville Island and Olympic Village Station, reusing and upgrading existing rail infrastructure. The demonstration service is planned to start no earlier than September 2026, after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and would be funded and operated by a private proponent without direct financial support from the City. |
